PEORIA, Ill. – Road construction projects will begin Monday in the city of Peoria and Tazewell County.
Lane closures will restrict traffic on Route 29/Galena Road just north of Gardner Lane to Homestead Avenue for sewer main inspections. The lane closures will last several weeks.
Traffic patterns will shift on Adams Street in downtown Peoria beginning at 7 a.m. as part of the one-way to two-way conversion project.
The four driving lanes on Adams Street will be restricted to the middle two lanes from Kumpf Blvd. to Hamilton Blvd. The two outside lanes will be closed to traffic.
The Adams Street left turn lane to Kumpf will be closed. Left turns will be allowed from the driving lane.
Beginning Monday in Tazewell County, Unsicker Road in Groveland Township will be closed to through traffic between Broadway Road and Queenwood Road for bridge replacement work.
Access will still be available to local traffic in each direction from the bridge and to Cornerstone
Baptist Church from the north.
Construction is expected to be completed by the end of November.
