PEORIA, Ill. – A Pekin man has succumbed to his injuries after a two-vehicle crash last week.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood says the crash happened September 3rd at the intersection of Knoxville and Elaine, where one of the vehicles rolled twice and landed on its roof.
Harwood says 88-year-old Russel Barnes was the front-seat passenger in the vehicle, and was taken to OSF Saint Francis in serious condition.
He says Barnes’ condition worsened over the following few days, and died just before 10:00 P.M. Saturday.
Harwood says Barnes suffered multiple blunt-force chest and head injuries that contributed to his decline, despite wearing a seat belt.
