PEORIA, Ill. – An Ohio man who was the subject of a manhunt after allegedly stealing a vehicle with a three-year-old child inside it in Peoria has made his first court appearance.
45-year-old Victor Farris appeared before a judge Wednesday, and will be back in court Monday for a detention hearing.
He is accused of taking the vehicle on September 5th in the area of University and Pioneer Parkway. The three-year-old in the vehicle was found safe later in the day at a gas station in Bartonville.
Farris eluded police for nearly two weeks before he was arrested in Monroe County, Iowa on September 16th. He was brought back to Peoria County this week.
He is charged with Aggravated Vehicular Hijacking, Kidnapping, and Unlawful Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle.
A jury trial was scheduled for December 9th.
