Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh’s chemistry is unmatched.
Going into this film, I had the sense it would compare to the likes of The Fault In Our Stars (2014).
I was wrong…
This is a unique love story, with a nonlinear timeline of events.
It doesn’t start with Garfield’s character (a recent divorcée) meeting Pugh’s (on the rise chef)… rather the two of them are already deep into their story together.
We still get to see all of the moments… just not in the particular order you’re used to seeing them in.
The British humor is fantastic.
The love and intimacy is real.
My biggest gripe is how all over the place the story felt at times, due to the unique timeline of the film.
I also felt a lack of emotional connection towards certain characters, which isn’t great in a film like this.
I loved the ending… not everyone will… but it’s a great callback to the beginning of the film.
This is a great movie to watch with a spouse – but I wouldn’t recommend it for a first date nor a watch with the family.
In all honesty… We Live In Time could be best suited for streaming… with a non-memorable script but incredibly strong performances.
