PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria Fire crews were busy overnight Saturday into Sunday morning battling multiple blazes.
The first fire was called in on Peoria’s South Side just before 11:45 A.M., to a single story house in the area of Ann and Laramie. Crews found heavy smoke and fire coming from the home.
Peoria Fire says the house’s occupant and two dogs were able to escape, but one dog did not make it out and died.
No injuries were reported. The Red Cross was called to assist the resident with housing.
The preliminary cause of the fire is accidental.
Arson is being cited as the cause of a garage fire in Peoria early Sunday morning.
Peoria Fire crews arrived just after 1:30 A.M. to MacQueen, between Broadway and Sheridan, finding the garage fully engulfed.
The fire was under control in about 25 minutes.
Peoria Fire says the garage was vacant with no occupants found.
There were no injuries.
The city of Peoria’s Building Safety Division declared the garage a total loss and for it to be demolished.
