Peoria Police responded to a person stabbed in the 600 block of N.E. Jefferson, near Hancock, around 4 p.m. Thursday afternoon.
Police found a person who had been stabbed in the arm. The victim was transported to a local hospital with what was described as a life-threatening injury.
Officials said the victim as of Friday afternoon was in serious condition.
Public Information Officer Amy Dotson said police arrested 51-year-old Sergio Lopez in connection with the stabbing, charging him with aggravated battery.
Police continue to investigate.
