PEORIA, Ill. – The victim in a fatal shooting Monday morning in Peoria has been identified.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood says 22-year-old Clay Megan suffered a gunshot wound to the neck.
Harwood says Megan died instantly.
Police responded to reports of four males breaking into vehicles in the area of the Wood Sage Apartments on North Scrimshaw Drive at around 12:15 A.M.
While en route, police learned of multiple gunshots fired in the same area.
The shooting remains under investigation.

PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria Police are looking for suspects in a homicide from Monday morning near an apartment complex.
Officers responded to the area of the Wood Sage Apartments on North Scrimshaw Drive just before 12:15 A.M. on a report of four males breaking into vehicles.
Police learned en route that multiple gunshots were fired from the same location.
Upon arrival, a 22-year-old male was found with an apparent gunshot wound, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The shooting is under investigation.
The Peoria County Coroner will release the victim’s identity and cause of death at a later time.
