PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria gas prices are continuing to fall.
GasBuddy reports an average of $3.22/g Monday in the Peoria area, down 4.1 cents in the past week. The average is 14.9 cents lower than a month ago and 16.8 cents lower than a year ago.
The cheapest price reported Sunday in Peoria was $2.94/g, with the highest at $3.49/g.
AAA is reporting a $3.23/g average for gas in the Peoria-Pekin metro area, down 5.1 cents in the past week.
Across Illinois, GasBuddy reports an 8 cent drop in the past week to an average of $3.15/g, with AAA reporting a $3.18/g average, an 8.1 cent drop in a week.
GasBuddy analysts say prices are expected to continue falling due to weaker seasonal demand across the country.
“With the median U.S. gas price now at $2.95 per gallon, the lowest since 2021, it appears to be just a matter of time before the national average falls below $3 per gallon for the first time since May 2021, something we’ve already seen for diesel prices, which many Americans will be thankful for as we get closer to Thanksgiving,” said GasBuddy head of petroleum analysis.
GasBuddy is reporting a national average of $3.03/g on Monday, down 2.6 in the past week. The average is 16.7 lower than a month ago and 32.3 cents lower than a year ago.
