PEORIA, Ill. – The female victim in a murder-suicide Sunday night in Peoria has been identified.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood says 48-year-old Johnnetta Smith was pronounced dead in the OSF Saint Francis trauma room just before 6:00 P.M.
Harwood says an autopsy on Smith shows she suffered multiple gunshot wounds throughout her body and likely died moments after being shot.
Smith was shot a half-hour earlier by 27-year-old Kenten Watkins Junior on the 600-block of Republic.
Watkins then reportedly shot a 63-year-old man in the leg just before 6:00 P.M. on the 3500-block of Sodus, then turned the gun on himself.
Harwood says Watkins likely died instantly after a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
The shootings remain under investigation.

PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria Police have released more information regarding multiple fatal shootings Sunday night throughout the city.
The first shooting occurred just before 5:30 P.M. on the 600-block of Republic. That’s where a 48-year-old female was found with an apparent gunshot wounds.
Life saving measures were performed at the scene, but she was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead. The Peoria County Coroner has yet to release the identity of the woman.
Police say 27-year-old Kenten Watkins Junior was developed as the suspect in that shooting, as well as one about a half hour later on the 3500-block of Sodus Court.
A 63-year-old male was found by police with an apparent gunshot wound to the leg when they arrived, and taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say minutes later, a call came in of a male down in the driveway in the same area. Officers then found Watkins with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, and pronounced dead at the scene.
Peoria Police say all the shootings remain under investigation.
