PEORIA Ill. – A man has been arrested and will remain in jail until his trial — for allegedly sexually abusing a family member that is under the age of 13, over the past two years.
According to Peoria County State Attorney, Jodi Hoos, in a detention hearing Monday, the state petition was granted to detain 25-year-old Corey Wofford, on Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault charges.
Around midnight on November 27, police were dispatched to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center for a reported sexual assault.
At the hospital, the child tested positive for chlamydia.
A forensic interview was done with the child at the Children’s Advocacy Center on December 5.
The child told detectives Wofford would perform sex acts on her and have her perform sex acts on him.
Wofford was then arrested on December 5th — and will remain in custody, until his trial.
The investigation is ongoing.
