PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria firefighters were called to a home on E. Gift Wednesday evening on reports of smoke.
Fire Battalion Chief Mike Ralston says crews arrive around 6 p.m., finding smoke coming from the home’s second floor, and flames behind a bedroom wall.
All five occupants of the home got out safely before firefighters arrived. The flames was brought under control in about 10 minutes.
A fire investigator determined the cause of the fire was electrical. Damage is estimated at $20,000.
No firefighter injuries were reported at the scene.
The American Red Cross is assisting the residents with temporary housing.
