PEORIA Ill. – The teenager who shot a 16-year-old male in August last year, in south Peoria, will be tried as an adult.
According to the Peoria County State’s Attorneys office – Naidren Williams, who was 15 at the time of the shooting, but is now 16, will be transferred to Adult Court on charges of Attempted Murder and Aggravated Battery with a firearm.
It happened in a detention hearing Tuesday, where the courts filed a petition for his continued detention, which will be heard Wednesday.
Just after 7:30pm on August 24th last year, officers responded to the 2700 block of west Wyoming in South Peoria, on reports of a person being shot.
Once arriving, officers found a 16-year-old male on the ground with three gunshot wounds, including one to the head.
The victim survived and identified Williams as the person who shot him.
