PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria Public Schools is looking for input on snow day learning from home.
Last year, the Illinois State Board of Education allowed school districts to impliment ‘work from home’ days, instead of using snow days.
Dr. Susan Grzanich, with Peoria Public Schools, told WMBD’s Greg and Dan, PPS plans to have students complete school work at home on snow days again this year.
The district is giving families a chance to discuss the ‘learn from anywhere, anytime’ concept Wednesday night at a public hearing before a final decision is made.
“Families can come in and just share their positive experiences, or things for us to consider for this school year,” Grzanich said.
At the next PPS School Board meeting, a resolution will be presented to board members asking them to agree to the ‘learn anywhere, anytime’ concept for this school year.
Grzanich says the district realizes that there may be instances where students cannot complete their work at home, but a plan is already in place.
“Some students will be able to do it through devices from home, other students, we will send home packets prior to what we think will be the first snowfall.”
Grzanich says parents will also be able to pick up packets at parent-teacher conferences next week if they know their children will not be able to access assignments from home.
The public hearing on the ‘learn anywhere, anytime’ concept is being held at the PPS Administration Building, located at 3202 N. Wisconsin Avenue, beginning at 5 p.m.
