PEORIA, Ill. – It’s another successful year for sister station 104.9 the Wolf in helping the kids of Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
John Young and Mike Stechman completed the two-day “Country Cares” radiothon last (Friday) night, raising $71,025. The amount is more than last year’s total of $70,104.90.
Young says it shows that people care about the kids.
“It means that kids are going to have their lives saved because they’re fighting cancer and they can’t do it alone,” Young said. “So they need folks like us. We don’t have a bunch of bigwigs signing a bunch of big fat checks, it’s blue-collar people, our listeners, our people.”
Young and Stechman say it’s good to know what they do matters, and that the message still gets across, because of some of the tough stories heard and told over the past two days.
Both say they’re proud of their listeners, and anyone who has heard about the radiothon second hand, for their donations and support.
You can still donate by calling (800) 566-9690.
