TAZEWELL COUNTY, Ill. – With several inches of snow expected to fall in the Peoria area Wednesday, the Tazewell County Highway Department is preparing now for the storm.
Tazewell County Highway Department Engineer Ben Parr says his crews will start pre-treating the county roads early Tuesday evening.
“We’ll try to keep the pavement (clear), trying to remove as much snow as we can. And, then make sure the evening commute is good, then we’ll be right back on it the next morning,” Parr says.
Parr says that it looks like Wednesday’s precipitation will be all snow, and not ice, making it safer for everyone.
It’s important to drive smart if you must be out in the snow, Parr says.
“You can’t replace the common sense and caution that needs to play a part of all this, right? You need to slow down,” Parr says.
The National Weather Service in Lincoln has issued a Winter Storm Warning from 6 AM Wednesday through 3 AM Thursday.
Up to seven inches of snow is possible through Wednesday night. Snow is expected to return to the Peoria area Saturday with the potential for several more inches of snow.
