PEORIA Ill. – It could be another snowy and slick weekend in the Peoria area.
According to National Weather Service Meteorologist, Daryl Onton, snowfall is expected to start Friday evening.
“We have a bit of a messy weather system headed for us. Already late this afternoon (Friday) we could see a period of light snow in the area, late this afternoon and the evening. It should be nothing more than a dusting of snow with that but looking at probably a break in the late evening to overnight and it’s possible that we won’t get precipitation until Saturday afternoon, but there is a little chance we could see some freezing rain overnight tonight into Saturday morning as well,” Onton said.
Onton adds, the system should pass through the Peoria area by midday Sunday.
“We could see some flurries lingering into Sunday but it looks like the bulk of the snowfall will be over with by early Sunday morning. None of these are looking like large amounts but certainly we could see half-an-inch this evening (Friday) and perhaps another inch or so on Saturday night. So there could be some periods of slick travel as well as brief glaze of ice Saturday morning,” Onton said.
