PEORIA, Ill. – Some potentially dangerous cold weather is expected to impact central Illinois this week.
A Cold Weather Advisory has been issued for the area, starting at 9:00 P.M. Monday and lasting until Tuesday at noon.
25 News First Alert Chief Meteorologist Chuck Collins says a polar vortex blast is expected to bring wind chills below zero through Thursday. Wind chills in the mornings are forecasted between -10 to -20 in the mornings and -5 to -10 below in the afternoons.
Collins says air temperatures are expected to be below freezing through Friday. But he says once the cold air leaves, temperatures will reach the 40s by the weekend.
