PEORIA Ill. – Beginning Monday, a long-term reconstruction project begins on Maxwell Road between Fauber Road and Middle Road.
The $7.1 million dollar project will reconstruct Maxwell Road into a three-lane roadway with improvements to the water main, storm sewer, pavement, curb and gutter, and sidewalk.
The work also includes a new multi-use path. Middle Road, from Maxwell Road to Dirksen Parkway, will also be reconstructed.
In the first stage of the construction, Maxwell Road traffic will be shifted to the east side of the road while work begins on the west side.
The Peoria County Highway Department says access to Maxwell Road’s side roads will be maintained at all times.
The project is expected to be completed in June 2026.
