PEORIA COUNTY, Ill. –According to Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood, 76-year-old Jerry Bedwell, of Washington, has died from injuries he suffered in a two-vehicle crash involving his vehicle and a semi around 9:15 a.m. Wednesday on McClugage Road.
Bedwell’s wife, 74-year-old Linda Bedwell, a passenger in the the car, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident Wednesday morning.
According to the Illinois State Police, preliminary investigation determined that Bedwell was traveling northbound on Spring Creek Road at the intersection of McClugage Road, when he failed to yield to traffic on McClugage when the accident occurred.
Bedwell was transported to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in critical condition. Despite aggressive intervention and treatment, he was pronounced dead at 10:39 p.m. Friday, at OSF.
Harwood said Jerry Bedwell suffered multiple blunt force injuries from the collision. Toxicology tests were negative. There will be no autopsy.
