PEORIA, Ill. โ Strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to make their way into Central Illinois Friday evening.
25 News First Alert Meteorologist Brian Walder says the main focus of Fridayโs weather outlook will be after dark, heading into Friday night, as a line of severe storms move through.
โWind gusts may reach as high as 80 miles per hour, along with the possibility of a few tornadoes and large hail. Until then, weโll see lots of sunshine Friday, with highs near 80 in the afternoon,โ Walder says.
It will also be windy Friday afternoon with gusts near 50 miles per hour, which could lead to an increased fire risk, Walder says.
The National Weather Service in Lincoln has issued a Wind Advisory from 1 p.m. Friday through 4 p.m. Saturday. There is also a Red Flag Day Warning going into effect Friday from 1-9 p.m.
