SPRINGFIELD, Ill. โ For the first time, Illinois State Police will host an all-women recruitment event on Tuesday, March 18 in Springfield.
Sgt. Tracy Lillard says women are encouraged to come explore becoming a state trooper, as well as civilian jobs with ISP.
โWhether itโs an evidence custodian, forensic scientist, or a telecommunicator. Weโve got accounting and HR, weโve got everything. Weโre a company, a business, so we also have those types of jobs,โ Lillard says.
ISP is committed to increasing the number of women working for them, with a goal of 30-percent of the workforce by the year 2030.
Lillard says If you are considering applying to the academy, mock PFIT tests will be run Tuesday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., so you can see if youโve got what it takes to be a state trooper.
โA PFIT is our testing mechanism for physical fitness requirements. And, that includes a sit and reach, sit ups, a bench press, and then also a timed run,โ Lillard says.
The all-female recruiting event will also provide information jobs dealing with ISP investigations, crime scene services, and Statewide 9-1-1.
