PEKIN, Ill. — The Pekin Police Department will host their 17th “Night Out Against Crime” Thursday night at the Avanti’s Dome, located at 3401 Griffin Avenue from 5-8 p.m.
The first hour is private, and geared to kids with special needs. The event is free for all ages, with a primary focus on children.
Officer Billie Ingles, with Pekin Police, expects several thousand people to show up.
“We do a trick-or-treat theme, since it’s so close to Halloween. We do encourage them to dress up. It’s kind of a safe trick-or-treat thing.
Ingles said there will be games, bouncy houses, carnival rides, free food, K9 demonstrations, police squad cars and fire trucks for kids to check out.
“We’ll have Tazewell County there. They’re going to have one of their motorcycles. We’ll have AMT there. The fire department will be there. And, of course, we’ll have one of our (Pekin) squad car’s out there,” Ingles said.
In addition to free food and prizes, there will be entertainment and 35 vendor and information booths.
