HANNA CITY, Ill. – A man died after he reportedly attempted to flee the scene of a dump truck in a ditch in Hanna City.
Peoria County Sheriff Chris Watkins says deputies responded to the area of 3rd Street and Farmington Road just before 10:45 P.M on Friday.
Witnesses reported the driver, 39-year-old Keith Seigel, had fled on foot, but deputies could not initially find him.
Deputies were then called to a nearby business on Farmington Road of a male found down and not breathing at around 2:30 A.M Saturday.
The male was identified as Seigel, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Watkins says witnesses and camera footage revealed that Seigel most likely fell from a retaining wall and struck his head.
The incident is still under investigation.
