SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – In the coming weeks more than 8,000 taxpayers will be getting a check in the mail for unclaimed cash they are due.
Illinois Treasurer Mike Frerichs’ said his office is returning one million dollars to taxpayers of Illinois, as part of the “money Match” program.
The ‘Money Match’ program uses existing technology and state records to match unclaimed cash with qualifying Illinois taxpayers.
The property must be $2,000 or less in cash with only one owner.
The goal is to return more money, more quickly, and without the need of paper, to Illinois taxpayers.
Frerichs’ said the website is always updated, and everyone should check the I-CASH” database to see if they have any money due.
