PEORIA, Ill. — There were three armed robberies in Peoria on Saturday afternoon, all stemming from online transactions.
Around 3:45 p.m. Peoria Police responded to a report of an armed robbery in the 2500 block of N. Sheridan. Upon arrival, police were informed by the victim that the incident occurred in the 800 block of W. Virginia.
The victim told police that he arranged to meet with a seller of a cellphone on the Letgo app. The victim was struck by a gun, and the suspects fled the area when the parties argued over the cracked screen on the phone being sold.
Both suspects in the first incident are in custody, and the victim was given medical attention for his injuries.
In the second armed robbery, an adult female victim told police that she had arranged to sell an Apple Watch and cellphone on Facebook.
Police responded to the 9000 block of N. Allen Rd. at 4:08 p.m. when the seller was pepper sprayed by the suspect. The suspect then fled with the victim’s property.
The only suspect information at this time for the second incident is a black female.
In the third armed robbery, police responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the 2800 block of W. Ann at 6:41 p.m. A call was also received by the victim of a shooting.
The 16 year-old male victim told police he had arranged to sell his cellphone in the Letgo app.
When the parties met in the 2800 block of W. Ann, the suspect shot the victim and fled with the property.
The victim was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries but stable.
All three incidents are under investigation.
