PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria Police responded to the 500 block of S. Western on Saturday night at 9:43 p.m. regarding a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.
The pedestrian has since been identified as Renee D. Nichols, 37, of Peoria.
Upon arrival, officers located Nichols laying in the street.
Information that officers gathered at the scene indicate that a green or gray SUV struck Nichols when she was attempting to cross the street. The driver then fled the scene.
Nichols was pronounced deceased at the scene at 10:55 p.m.
An investigation is ongoing.
