PEORIA, Ill. –Peoria Public Schools needs more Children’s books.
The school district is about half way to a goal of collecting 10,000 books for “Little Libraries” set up at each of its primary schools.
Dr. Nicole Woods, Executive Director of Primary Education with PPS, tells WMBD’s Greg and Dan, the “Little Libraries” are easy to spot.
“You’ll see them right outside the front doors. There’s actually two of them. One is a “Little Free Library” and the other is a “Little Free Pantry” filled with non-perishable food items for students to take home.
Woods said there is a shortage of early learning books, for preschool children, but any book appropriate for K-8 students will help.
Books inside the “Little Libraries” are free for students to take home.
“They can keep it if they want. And, they can build up their own home library, or they can return it,” Woods said.
