NORMAL, Ill. – Electric vehicle manufacturer Rivian is receiving state help for a supplier park at its Normal facility.
The governor’s office on Monday announced an investment of $120 million for 1.2 million square foot supplier park. The park is currently under construction and expected to be finished by next year.
The park will allow the company to co-locate suppliers that produce parts for its R1 and R2 models, and transport them across U.S. Route 150. The company will be able to create 100 jobs directly with the supplier park.
“Rivian’s latest investment in Illinois is a clear reflection of the state’s growing leadership in the clean energy economy,” said Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity Director Kristin Richards. “Illinois is committed to building a sustainable future, supporting innovation, and expanding access to high-quality jobs, especially in the electric vehicle sector.”
The investment is being supported by a $16-million incentive package, which includes a Reimagining Energy and Vehicle tax incentive, worth $5 million dollars over 20 years. The incentive also calls for capital grant support for the creation of a minimum of 93 jobs and a $119.6 million investment.
