PEORIA, Ill. – Gas prices in Peoria have dropped a little over two cents a gallon in the last week, averaging $3.31 on Monday.
GasBuddy price reports show the cheapest gas in Peoria on Sunday was $3.09 a gallon and the most expensive gas was $3.49. The lowest price in the state was $2.69, while the highest price in Illinois was $4.49.
The national average price of gas has also dropped over four cents a gallon in the last week, averaging $3.08 on Monday.
“Even with oil prices jumping more than $4 per barrel compared to last week, the national average price of gasoline has resumed its decline as refineries wrap up seasonal maintenance and prepare to boost output,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.
“Forty states have seen average gasoline prices fall over the last week, while just ten have seen increases—most notably on the West Coast, where another refinery fire in Northern California once again disrupted gasoline production. As we approach Memorial Day, gas prices may see some minor fluctuations, but for now, I don’t expect any significant changes to the national average, with prices staying near their lowest seasonal level since 2021,” DeHaan said.
Meanwhile, AAA Illinois says the average price of gas in the Peoria/Pekin metro area on Monday was $3.32, the state average was $3.40, and the national average price of unleaded gas was $3.13.
