PEORIA, Ill. – A teenager charged with First Degree Murder in connection to a fatal shooting in December in Peoria’s East Bluff will stay in jail before his trial.
25 News reports a judge on Monday granted a motion by prosecutors to detain 15-year-old Robert Mister in the Juvenile Detention Center.
Mister is charged with allegedly killing 39-year-old James Miller in a home on December 22nd last year.
Miller’s fiance is claiming to have witnessed Mister allegedly standing over Miller and shooting him in the head. A witness claims Mister was angry because someone stole his AirPods, and that Mister was stealing people’s phones. Miller would not let Mister leave until he returned them the AirPods.
Prosecutors say Mister initially denied being at the house when the shooting occurred, but later allegedly admitted to being upset about the AirPods, found a gun on a bookshelf, fired the weapon, and left.
Investigators say Mister left a phone message reportedly saying “I did something bad, bad.”
Prosecutors during the hearing pointed out a “lengthy and serious” criminal history for Mister, which included residential burglaries and trespassing.
Mister is due back in court on June 12th.
