PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria gas prices were unchanged in the last week, averaging $3.26 a gallon on Tuesday, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 148 stations.
Prices in Peoria are 6.5 cents a gallon lower than a month ago, and 50.8 cents lower than a year ago.
According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest gas in Peoria on Monday was $3.11 a gallon, while the most expensive gas was $3.49 a gallon. The lowest price in the state on Monday was $2.89 a gallon, while the highest price in the state was $4.49.
The national average price of gas was also unchanged in the last week, averaging $3.13 a gallon on Tuesday, up 3.1 cents from a month ago, and 43.0 cents per gallon lower than a year ago, according to GasBuddy data.
“While the national average didn’t fall quite as far as anticipated for Memorial Day, it was still one of the most affordable since 2021— and, when adjusted for inflation, among the cheapest in nearly a decade,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.
“As we move into the heart of summer, I believe we’re likely to see a relatively stable stretch for gas prices as refinery maintenance wraps up. Don’t expect the national average to rise above $3.30 per gallon, nor drop much below $3 for now. While refining issues on the West Coast are beginning to ease, several factors could still influence prices in the weeks ahead—including growing uncertainty around the upcoming hurricane season,” De Haan said.
Meanwhile, AAA Illinois said the average price of gas in the Peoria/Pekin metro area on Tuesday was $3.28 a gallon, the state average was $3.41, and the national average gas price was $3.17 a gallon.
