CHICAGO, Ill. — Though it’s still too much, we are paying a bit less for gas at the pump.
According to Triple A, the national average for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is now $4.89, after rising above $5.00 a gallon in every state in the nation.
Here in Illinois, the average price for unleaded gas is now $5.43.
We’re catching a bit of a break locally in the Peoria-Pekin metro area, with an average $5.20 at the pump.
The highest average price we’ve paid for regular unleaded in the Peoria area has been $5.29.
