PEORIA COUNTY, Ill. – A Peoria County Sheriff’s Deputy was terminated Monday after an investigation by the Peoria County Sheriff’s Merit Commission.
Deputy Jason Patterson was found guilty of 8 charges filed by County Sheriff Brian Asbell.
In a release from the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office, the charges violated the rules and regulations of the Sheriff’s Office such as unbecoming a deputy, willful mistreatment of a person(s), and falsification of reports/false reporting.
Patterson was an employee of the Sheriff’s Office for 20 years, however he has been on administrative leave since Oct. 19, 2017.
“A law enforcement officer’s position is a position of trust and because of this the public has the right to the highest standard of behavior from those we give the power and authority to. Once public trust has been compromised, the mission of this agency would be harmed with the deputy’s continued service,” Asbell stated in the release.
