PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria County grand jury has indicted a woman in connection with a fatal shooting on Peoria’s Riverfront earlier this month.
19-year-old Deziaah Hunter was indicted Tuesday on one count of First Degree Murder and one count of Aggravated Battery.
Hunter is due in court again on July 2nd for an arraignment hearing.
Hunter is accused in the death of 18-year-old Kenadee Wallenfang of Pekin on the afternoon of June 3rd.
Prosecutors say Wallenfang was found by police lying on the ground next to an SUV with a gunshot wound to the back of her head, and a bullet hole in the back of the driver’s headrest. Wallenfang was declared brain dead soon after.
Hunter is alleged to have been seated behind Wallenfang, and reportedly claims the gun went off accidentally.
