PEORIA, Ill. – The Peoria man who pleaded guilty earlier this year to breaking in to a local gun shop will go to federal prison for most of the next five years.
The U.S. Attorney’s office says Corey Brooks, 30, was sentenced this week to 63 months in prison for Burglary and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.
Federal prosecutors say Brooks shattered a window in July of last year at Pinnacle Guns and Ammo on Main Street, getting away with 18 handguns and two shotguns.
Two of the guns were found in a wooded area, 11 more were found a day after the break-in in a pillowcase by a young child, and several others were found found months later.
Brooks had four prior felony convictions.
