PEORIA, Ill. – The cause of a boat fire Thursday night near the Peoria Boat Club is under investigation.
Peoria Fire crews responded just before 9:45 P.M., and were directed to the end of one of the dock piers for the fire.
Crews found fire in a rear storage compartment on a 40-foot cabin cruiser, with bystanders using several fire extinguishers to try and put it out.
Peoria Fire says the fire was put out before it could spread further, as well as to two adjacent boats docked nearby.
No one was injured. Damage is estimated at $25,000.
