PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man has been found guilty in the shooting death of a teenager nearly three years ago.
25 News reports that 21-year-old Erick Jackson was convicted Wednesday of First Degree Murder and Aggravated Battery.
Jackson was found guilty in the death of 15-year-old Merian Smith near the former Quest Charter Academy on November 7th, 2022. The shooting injured a second boy, who survived.
Jackson is scheduled to be sentenced on October 29th. He faces up to 90 years in prison on the murder charge and up to 30 years on the battery charge.
