PEORIA, Ill. — Local planners are proposing significant changes to two main thoroughfares through downtown Peoria, perhaps eliminating one way streets in the process.
However, these changes will certainly not be put in place without allowing for public review.
In that spirit, city officials are invited members of the public to come to an Open House at the Gateway Building Wednesday afternoon to look at what could be coming.
There have been ideas floated about removing one-way traffic on both Southwest Jefferson and Adams Streets and making both of them open to two-way traffic.
The $12 million project being paid for with federal, state and local funding, is expected to start next year and hopefully be completed by 2025.
