PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man has been charged with aggravated arson and criminal damage to property, among other charges, after allegedly setting a home on fire.
Peoria Police initially were called to the area of N. University and W. Margaret around 12:15 a.m. Monday, on reports of a man armed with a bat.
While en route, officers were told the residence was on fire. Peoria firefighters were already on the scene, and the residents got out safely.
Officers later identified 31-year-old Jacob Cardenas as a suspect. He was found on W. Margaret and taken into custody…and then to the Peoria County Jail.
