PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man has been convicted for his role in a fatal East Bluff shooting from early last year.
The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office says 41-year-old David Stone was found guilty on Thursday of First Degree Murder after a three-day trial.
The shooting occurred January 4th, 2024 near Knoxville and Thrush, and killed 34-year-old Arlin Castellon, who was shot seven times, most of the shots in the back.
Prosecutors say Stone admitted in recorded jail phone calls to being at the scene with Mikeal Williams to collect money Castellon owed Stone. The situation escalated with Williams shooting and killing Castellon.
Prosecutors say Stone was found guilty under Illinois’ accountability law, which allows a person to be responsible for a crime if they help plan, assist, or take part in carrying out a crime.
Williams’ case is pending, as he is in custody in Texas and awaiting extradition to Illinois.
