PEORIA, Ill. – A fire caused $40,000 damage at the Providence Pointe Apartments near downtown Peoria late Wednesday night.
Fire Battalion Chief Josh Maroney says crews were called to the building on NE Prosperity Street just after 11:30 p.m., finding fire in a kitchen.
The fire was put out quickly with the help of the building’s sprinkler system.
Everyone was evacuated safely from the building. One resident was displaced due to fire and water damage.
Restoration efforts have begun. The fire was determined to be unintentional.
