PEORIA, Ill. — The Nov. 15 Louis C.K. show at Peoria Civic Center will introduce a new concept to the area.
Thanks to Yondr, attendees will have their cell phones and other devices that have the ability to record locked up during the show.
Upon entry into the arena, the devices will be placed into Yondr pouches that automatically lock.
If the devices need to be used at any time during the show, patrons will be able to access the devices at unlock stations placed throughout the lobby and corridors.
While this is a new concept for the civic center, General Manager Rik Edgar said it’s becoming trendy throughout the country.
“We’re seeing it more and more. Specifically, comedians are asking for it because they are trying new material and they don’t want it to go out in the public via the YouTubes and Facebook before it’s ready,” he said.
“I think we’re going to see more and more of this, and hopefully fans will appreciate the experience of not being distracted by other guests.”
Edgar said certain music performers, such as Smashing Pumpkins, have also tried the concept.
The pouches automatically unlock once the show is over, and there is a dropoff bin for the pouches.
“We just wanted fans to give themselves a little extra time coming to the show to prepare to go through that part of the security,” Edgar said.
Doors are scheduled to open at 6 P.M.
