PEORIA, Ill. – An attempt to melt ice is to blame for a porch fire in Peoria early Sunday night.
Peoria Fire says crews responded just after 5:00 P.M. to the area of Crestwood and Hawthrone, finding the porch on fire and smoking.
The fire was quickly put out and the home ventilated of all the smoke.
The homeowners were already outside and there were no injuries.
A fire investigator determined the cause was unintentional, as the homeowner attempted to melt ice with a small propane kit.
