PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man faces serious felony charges following a November home invasion that left a woman injured.
Donald Criss, 39, was indicted by a Peoria County Grand Jury on December 9th on three felony counts: two counts of Home Invasion and one count of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon.
According to court documents, the charges stem from an incident on November 7, 2025, at a residence in the 700 block of West Wayne Street in Peoria.
The indictment alleges that Criss knowingly and without authority entered the dwelling of Chestina Jones. Court records state he remained in the home knowing one or more persons were present inside.
On the first home invasion count, prosecutors allege Criss intentionally caused injury to Jones while she was inside the dwelling.
The second home invasion charge alleges that while armed with a firearm, Criss used force or threatened the imminent use of force upon a person within the dwelling.
The weapons charge stems from allegations that Criss knowingly possessed a handgun despite having been previously convicted of a felony in Peoria County.
Criss remains in custody and an arraignment hearing is scheduled for December 11.
Home invasion is one of the most serious felonies under Illinois law, with Class X felonies carrying potential sentences of up to 30 years in prison.
