PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man must remain in jail after his Christmas Day arrest in connection to an August shooting at an apartment complex.
The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office says 30-year-old John Earl Nichols is charged with Aggravated Battery with a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon.
Prosecutors say the shooting occurred August 16th at the Cityscape Apartments where officers responded and found a 39-year-old male on the ground with a gunshot wound to his leg.
The victim told police that an unknown male allegedly tried to rob him of his watch before shooting him.
A witness had told police they spotted Nichols allegedly shoot the victim and flee the scene along with a man in a wheelchair the night of the shooting.
