EAST PEORIA, Ill. (25 News) – The East Peoria Boat Club rang in the new year with its 22nd annual Polar Plunge on Thursday.
Plungers of all ages took a chilly dive into above-freezing waters, braving the cold for charity.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Greater Peoria Honor Flight, the Ark Animal Shelter and the Picket Fence Foundation.
“We are so grateful for all the participants this year. We had 125 jumpers, with tons of fun costumes. It was a really fun event,” East Peoria Boat Club’s Nicole Roberts, told 25 News.
For the past 22 years, the polar plunge has raised $217,000. This year, organizers set a goal to raise over $10,000.
