PEORIA, Ill. (25 News) – The City of Peoria is asking residents to help identify areas where pedestrian infrastructure needs improvement, with a particular focus on making the city more accessible for people with disabilities.
25 News reports that leaders in the Public Works department are requesting feedback on sidewalks, curb ramps, and crossings that require attention to improve Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance.
To gather community input, the city launched surveys and an interactive map on its website where residents can pinpoint specific locations that need work.
“If there’s a certain area or certain location that there are a lot of map pins, a lot of responses, then obviously those will help set our priorities moving forward when it comes to projects in the future,” said Nick McMillion, communications specialist with Peoria Public Works.
McMillion said the initiative will create a comprehensive plan to address pedestrian infrastructure improvements in future years.
The surveys are available through February 9, 2026 on the City of Peoria’s website.
