PEORIA, Ill. – Arson appears to be the cause of a fire Thursday night in the 1400 block of S. Livingston Street in Peoria.
Battalion Chief Mike Ralston said crews arrived around 7:05 p.m., finding fire in the basement of a vacant home. The fire extended through the first and second floors.
Firefighters encountered numerous holes in the floors, creating hazardous conditions. The fire was brought under control, and no injuries were reported.
The fire remains under investigation, though it was intentionally set.
Community Development officials assessed the damage, and called for an emergency demolition of the home.
