PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man has been arrested for an armed robbery in the East Bluff back in November.
The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office says 18-year-old Shamari Joiner was taken into custody on Wednesday for allegedly robbing a 17-year-old at gunpoint in an alley near the 1700 block of N. Peoria Avenue on November 21.
The victim told police that night that a group armed with handguns robbed him. One of them recorded the incident on their phone and posted it to Snapchat.
The victim showed detectives the recording from Snapchat, identifying several people including Joiner, through their social media accounts.
During an interview with PPD detectives, Joiner admitted to being at the scene of the robbery, but not participating in it.
Joiner has been charged with armed robbery and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, and will remain in jail until his trial.
Two teens, a 17-year-old and 15-year-old were arrested on January 3 for the same incident. They have both been charged with armed robbery in juvenile court and are being held at the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center.
The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Peoria Police Department at 309-673-4521.
