PEORIA, Ill. – A man will spend eight years in prison for his role in a robbery last Valentine’s Day at a Peoria apartment complex.
The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office says 25-year-old Anthony Morris was sentenced Friday after pleading guilty to Aggravated Robbery in November.
Prosecutors say Morris was one of two people who robbed a person at the Lexington Hills Apartments on February 14th last year.
Morris reportedly pushed himself inside the apartment and held a gun to the head of one of the occupants and demanded their phone, car keys, credit cards, and jacket.
Prosecutors argued for a 12 year sentence under a plea agreement, citing a criminal history that included multiple burglaries. But the court imposed the eight year sentence.
The other individual involved, Haywood Drummond, pleaded guilty to Aggravated Robbery last September and was sentenced to 6.5 years in prison.
